3x3x3 (three-channel video installation)

Each one of the three straight-out-of-camera videos represents visual results of a creative experiment with a “harmed mirror” (mirror with scratches, gaps in its reflective surface) . In each video the physiognomy of two people is overlaid without the use of digital or post-production effects.

This “harmed mirror”, through the synchronous action of the optical phenomena of reflection and transmission of light, enables the creation of an ephemeral, layered image in which the reflection of the subject standing in front of the mirror overlaps with the staging of the subject standing behind the mirror.

In the videos you see a visual synthesis of grandmother and my mother (first video), my mother and myself (second video) and my grandmother and myself (third video).

The artistic sublimation and theoretical contextualization of this mirror experiment should initiate contemplation of topics such as: reflection, (auto-) reflexivity, psychological projection, counter-gaze, mechanical gaze, gesture as a message, subjectivity and intersubjectivity within close family relationships.
